定例オンラインセミナー講演会No.192「若者の政治参加と学校教育―日本とイングランドの知見から考える― ／School Experiences and Youth Political Engagement— Insights from Japan and England — 」」を開催します。（2026.2.4）

近年、社会の分断や政治的不確実性が高まるなか、若者がどのように政治参加や市民性を身につけるのかは、日英双方で重要な課題となっています。本セミナーでは、日本の最新データと、イングランドの Citizenship Education Longitudinal Study（CELS）の知見を用いて、学校経験と若者の政治参加の関係を検討します。
イギリスからは、Education, Democracy and Inequality（2019）の共著者 Jan Germen Janmaat 教授を迎え、学校経験・家庭背景・教育政策が市民性発達やエンパワメント格差に及ぼす影響についてお話しいただきます。日本側からは、若者の社会参加に関する最新の実証結果を紹介します。
日英の知見を往還しながら、若者の政治参加を支えるための共通課題と相違点を明らかにし、学校が若者の社会参加を育む場となる条件について考える機会とします。

How young people develop political engagement has become a key concern in Japan and England amid growing social polarization and political uncertainty. With Japan lowering the voting age to 18 and the UK debating voting rights at 16, understanding the role of schools is increasingly important.
 This seminar examines how school experiences shape civic attitudes, drawing on recent Japanese survey data and findings from England’s CELS study. We welcome Prof. Janmaat, co-author of Education, Democracy and Inequality, who will discuss how schools, family background, and policy contribute to empowerment gaps. Through comparative insights, we consider how schools can better support youth democratic engagement.
